Today in Mrs. Barbeau's class, we started  the period by getting  folders, for our Sudan project, and getting our homework which was ject word Quiz. We also will have a quiz on it tomrrow. Todays lesson was about writing our two to three paragraphs . Mrs. Barbeau exlained that we write  our paragraphs by the videos , information we read , and the notes we took. She also said we do these word quiz beacause we need to learn lots of vocabuarly to be ready for the Long Walk Of Water. And finally Mrs Barbeau  reminded us to studdy for the Quiz

    Today in Mrs. Barbeau's class, we started the period by working on a vocabulary worksheet for the words with dict.

We are also working in groups for a project. I'm in the group for the Sudanese Civil War Comic Book. The other two groups are The Lost Boys of Sudan Body biography and the Sudan Informational Book group.

Today's lesson is about Sudan.

Mrs. Barbeau explained that a civil war has been going on in Sudan for 20 years. The war has killed 2 million people and only 20 thousand boys escaped from the war. When the war ended the boys built a village. The boys were called the Lost Boys. They were called the lost boys because

     Today in Mrs. Barbeau's class, we worked on the informational travel team. The book or website 4 members. The body Biography has 4 members and the comic book is about the Sudan Civil War with 4 members. We also went outside of class to choose our members for our group.

My Favorite Interests

There are many things that I am interested in, but one that stands out is drawing. I got started on this when  i was 7 years old. Drawing lets you express your feelings or emotions. I like that I am able to show my feelings in my drawing. Also, it gets me through hard times. Finally, I am thankful that my family helps me out with my drawing. This helps me by sharing my feelings and thoughts with out hurting other peoples feelings. For my next blog, I am thinking of writing about my class.

       There are many things that i'm interested in, but one that stands out is WWE wrestiling. I got started on this when I was seven years old. My dad was the one who showed me wrestiling when I was seven years old. Then from that day forward wrestiling has been my favorite t.v. show and my favorite thing that I want to do. WWE wrestiling is about winning championships, controversy in the ring, breaking records, funny moments, and big omg moments. What I like about wwe is that it is inspiring to make your own name, championship, and your own clothing. Also wwe is exiciting because it has wwe wrestilers that do crazy things to make the fans in the seats stand up and make them think wow how did he do that or why did he do that? Finally wwe is funny because when you see wrestilers wrtestiling in the ring they do some funny stuff to make the fans who are watching laugh. WWE helps me by letting me be in my own world like at school people dont talk to me about wwe and I dont talk to them about wwe, but when I get home and I watch wrestiling I finally get to be in my own world where their is no one but me and my dad just watching and talking about wwe. So that is my favorite interest. For my next blog, I am thinking of writing about Universal Studios HollyWood.

  Today in ms.barbeau's class we started the period off by taking out a peace of paper and writing our heading. we also took a test of a word list on spec. todays lesson is about spec. Mrs.barbeau exlained that the answrs to the tesr is in the bac k of the spec test. she also said that its a test today . finally ,Mrs.barbeau's reminded us and bout the vocabulary word's to do them.for homework , she had assigned is the vocabulary words 4 squars and they are due on friday the 9 .  know in Mrs.barbue's class they are calabrerating in gruops on the test. so you would have to agrea with one a answer to the test.so you and the person or the group would be able to do the test together.

i think the classnis on task.by listening to Mrs.barbueau when she said to be quiet.and they listening to Mrs.barbueau and there not talking and they just quiet and learning about the spec test.So when she called on the people in the class there quiet and have there eye of the speaker.

                 There are many things that I'm interested in, but one of then is my favorite sport soccer.I got started on this when i was 8 years old and got inspired by my dad. Soccer is about controling and skill passing thrugh opsticals and trying to make the ball going in the other teams goal. What I like about soccer is that I'am able to show skill able to improve and be able have a good futer, Also it helpes me get my anger awy by kicking the ball to be calm this also helpes me get streghnth to get and be stronger. Finallay soccer also inspired me by my dad and a famouse soccer player named Neymar Jr I would watch the games he playes and learn the skills he does to. This helpes me by having to play in college and might be able to play with the clubs that go on T.V. and be as famouse as them and will help me during all my life.   There are many things that I'm interested in, but one that stands out is going on a advencher with my family and friends. I got started on this when I was 1 year old. It is about going to Sea World for the first time.It was so fun I went with my family and cousins. We saw so much animals like dolphin, killer whales, and sea lion and so much more.What I like about Sea World is the shows that the animals perform. My favroite show is the dolphon show. It is about dolphin showing there talent and there skills.Also you get wet. Finally they sell funall cakes. Funall cakes are my favorie type of cake. This helps me by learning because i dont know much about dolphin and they are my favorie animals so it's good to know about them.

                                                                                                                                                              Ultimate frizzbee is a new sport that combines the skills of football and the use of a frizzbee. Emerson Charter School has started to play the new sport in their P.E. periods. The sport has also led to a compentition of the periods 1-6 in the lasts days of school. Each round of the game has period versues another period. One of the rules are to only take three steps once you caught the frizzbee. You also have to keep a three feet halo to a player how has a frizzbee. If you miss or drop the frizzbee, the other team gets to have frizzbee. Boys scorer 1 point if they pass the scorer area. Girls scorer 2 point. The sport helps people have better stamaia,cooperation with other people,and of course,to have fun.

Today in mrs. barbeau class it is the due date for the grit essay that was assigened on monday. For this assigment we had to watch the four video based on grit.  the four videos we watch were "just do it" "knock knock" "grit by anglea duckworth" " kyle maynard climbs mount killmanjaro" and " nick vujicic- life with no limbs". Also for the grit essay we have to give our own opinon of what we think grit is. In my opion i think grit means to persvere many tough challenges.

                                                                 PQRS on the 4Fs

                         Mrs. Barbeau introduced the PQRS system in critiquing peer work. PQRS stands for praise-questions-respond-suggestion. It ensures that peer review happens within a safe environment where all students feel comfortable about reviewing work and in the same way that his/her own work is being reviewed. The main objective is for students to look at work using the lens of an objective observer in making sure that all students in the class will grow as readers, writers, and presenters after being provided with feedback. In doing so, the student is made aware of the criteria or rubric in grading one's work and consistently strive for attaining his/her personal best.

                        Today's PQRS activity focused on giving a review of a peer's work on the 4Fs (4 Squares), as pictured above. The students were assigned a final paper of a random peer for review.  They used their self-created form for PQRS and Mrs. Barbeau went through each criterion as she guided the class in reviewing each component of the PQRS and their peer's work. Finally, they were asked to assign points and calculate the total number of points out of 13 possible points, given that the student did not write any extra sentences. Mrs. Barbeau made the rubric open to students that wanted to go above and beyond.

                      I thought that this activity was great as it does not only promote a safe environment in the class, but it also makes each student aware of the criteria or rubrics that he/she needs to set himself/herself against so each student is insured that he/she is going to the right direction in meeting the state standards. This activity also represents the real world when they start keeping a job, competing in tournaments, and other scenarios where professionalism is regarded with utmost importance.
